Man arrested for police chase through Southampton

A man has been arrested on suspicion of alcohol and drug driving after police chased through Southampton.

On Wednesday night, officers tried to stop a stolen BMW 3 Series in the city.

The car was spotted at Thomas Lewis Way just before 9.10 pm and the vehicle failed to stop.

Officers tracked it down, eventually stopping it at Manor Farm Road.

The road between Diamond Road and Wellington Road remained closed in both directions for about an hour.

A 29-year-old Southampton man was arrested on suspicion of car theft, dangerous driving, drunken driving, and drug-driving.
