According to the World News Agency, Maria Brenias Moreira slept the night as usual and was found dead in her bed in the morning.
The family, while confirming the death, said she had always expressed her wish to die this way.
Mary won the title of the world’s oldest person last year when France Lucille Random died at the age of 118.
Maria Brenias was officially recognized as the oldest person in the world by Guinness World Records in January 2023 after the death of Lucille Random.
Mary became the eighth oldest person in human history overall.
In her long life, Maria Brenias fought the pandemic flu of 1918, the First World War, the Second World War and the Spanish Civil War, as well as the Corona in 2020 and still recovered.
After the death of Maria Brenias, the title of the oldest person in the world was given to the Japanese Tomiko Ituka who is 116 years old.
