Meta Global layoffs hit India, top executives among them asked to leave
These job cuts were part of the company’s so-called “Efficiency Year”, in which Meta is being restructured to cut costs.
The third round of layoffs most affected Meta’s business departments globally.
Meta founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg said in March that the company would cut 10,000 jobs in two rounds of layoffs in late April and late May.
Meta had eliminated 11,000 rolls in November last year. In total, around 21,000 people have lost their jobs over the social network across all departments.
The tech giant last month cut about 4,000 of the planned 10,000 positions, bringing the potential cut to nearly 6,000 positions.
