With the delivery of ‘Vikrant’, India has joined the select group of countries that have the unique capability to design and build aircraft carriers indigenously.

The Indian Navy on Thursday received the country’s first indigenously built aircraft carrier Vikrant from its manufacturer, Cochin Shipyard Ltd, ahead of its scheduled commissioning date next month. Built at a cost of around Rs 20,000 crore, the aircraft carrier successfully completed the fourth and final phase of sea trials three weeks ago.
