What was the argument in favor of Rahul Gandhi?
Senior lawyer Abhishek Manu Singhvi, appearing for Rahul Gandhi, said that the alleged crime for which Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has been convicted and sentenced to two years in jail is not serious and does not involve moral turpitude. Defamation is considered an unforgivable offense here. Due to this, the elected person loses the right to represent the people. Rahul Gandhi will not be able to participate in the next sessions, meetings etc. Meanwhile, if the Election Commission conducts a by-election, Rahul Gandhi cannot contest the election, someone else can contest and win, but he cannot be defeated.
