Pattani pujo pardubite to chase away ghosts – Uttarbanga Sambad
Submergence: In the age of science, villagers still think that there are ghosts in remote rural areas. And to drive away these demons, many people turn to Ojha, and many also worship. Similarly, on Saturday, Pattani Pujo was celebrated in a grand procession to chase away the demons in the area adjacent to the market of Pardubi Gram Panchayat in Mathabhanga 2 block. The villagers worship a shawra and a bell tree. This time Pattani Pujo entered her 51st year.
According to the villagers, two stones are worshiped as deities under the shawra and bell trees. In this pujo, many villagers offer four pairs of duck eggs and four pairs of pigeons in the name of Patyani Devi. He cut the banana drum and sprinkled curd on it and worshiped. Besides, a red flag was put up in the temple premises in the name of the goddess.
It is known that the late Shivahari Varman was the first to organize this pujo. At present his family members worship according to the rules for a few years. Then this pujo became universal. About 50 years ago, many people in the village used to catch ghosts in public. Then this pujo begins. The villagers believe that ghosts usually live in the moss and bell trees. So these two trees in the area are worshiped as Patyani Devi. The villagers believe that there is no news of a ghost being caught in the village after performing this pujo.
