If your home electricity bill comes in the range of Rs 2,500 to Rs 3,000 per month, then it can be reduced to Rs 8 per day ie Rs 240 per month. For this you need to install 3Kw rooftop solar system at home. Its life is 25 years and its installation cost is Rs 72,000. If you divide it by months then it will be Rs 8 per day.
For this, the Central Government has been running the ‘National Rooftop Scheme’ since 2014. At the same time, PM Narendra Modi also announced the ‘Pradhan Mantri Suryodaya Yojana’. Under this scheme, the central government will install rooftop solar systems in one crore houses across the country.
In this story, we tell you how you can install a rooftop solar system in your home under the government scheme…
The rooftop solar system will provide electricity for 25 years at ₹8 per day
If your electricity bill falls between Rs 2,500 to Rs 3,000 then a 3 Kw solar plant can supply electricity for your entire home. According to the official website of the government, the cost of the project for a plant of 3Kw is around Rs 1.26 lakh, of which the government provides a subsidy of Rs 54 thousand.
That means you will spend only about Rs 72 thousand to set up this plant. The estimated life of this plant is 25 years. According to this, you have to spend only Rs 8 per day for electricity for 25 years. The price may also increase depending on the quality and other services of the solar panel.
What is Suryaday Yojana?
Under the Suryodaya Yojana, the government will install rooftop solar in the homes of the economically weaker. This not only satisfies their own electricity needs but also enables them to make a profit by selling the extra electricity. Announcing the scheme, PM Modi talked about connecting more people through this campaign.
The target of 1 crore houses under Suryodaya Yojana is new. Although the government has been doing the work of installing solar systems on rooftops under the government’s ‘National Rooftop Scheme’ which has been running for over a decade, this program is running far behind schedule.

What’s the plan?
In 2014, Prime Minister Modi set a target of installing 100 GW solar power in the country by 2022 under the ‘National Rooftop Scheme’. This is five times more than the current target at that time. The target is to bring forty percent of this capacity, ie 40 GW, through grid-connected solar rooftop systems.
The government’s target of 100 GW for 2022 has been missed by a wide margin. The rooftop installation target was also not met. At the end of last year, the country’s total solar installed capacity reached 73.3 GW, of which grid-connected rooftop solar systems contributed about 11 GW.
One reason for the government falling short of the target is the disruption of work due to the Covid-19 pandemic. However, even then, the growth of solar power is not as fast as the set target. The government’s target of 40 GW for rooftop solar systems will be reached by 2026.

What is a rooftop solar panel?
Roof solar panels are installed on the roof of the house. Solar plates are installed on these panels. It is a technology that produces electricity by absorbing energy from sunlight. Photovoltaic cells are installed in panels that convert solar energy into electricity. This electricity works in the same way as electricity that comes from the power grid.
