Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) organized a protest against actor Shah Rukh Khan’s film ‘Pathan’ in Surat, Gujarat. Then, the film pens outside the theater were torn down. In connection with this, 5 members of the VHP organization were arrested.

Hindi movie ‘Pathan’ shows actress Deepika Padukone wearing a saffron ‘bikini’ in a song sequence has been released. Right-wing organizations strongly opposed this. They alleged that the film was deliberately forced to include scenes that insulted Hinduism.

Madhya Pradesh Minister Narottam Mishra, who left the BJP, also condemned the film. Meanwhile, in the recently held BJP National Executive Committee meeting, Prime Minister Narendra Modi advised the party members not to make unnecessary comments about movies. Subsequently, the BJP leaders dropped the issue.

Earlier, the Censor Department had also directed various changes in the film Pathan, including the controversial song sequence. As the film is slated to release on January 25, organizations including the VHP are protesting in various states.

On Sunday, VHP activists gathered in front of the theater where the movie Pathan was going to be released in Gujarat’s Surat city and tore down the posters of the movie. Subsequently, the police registered a case of violence against them and arrested 5 people. Earlier, theater owners had met the state minister and demanded security for the theatres.

Talking to Assam Chief Minister, Shah Rukh Khan: Bajrang Dal organized a protest against the film Pathan in Assam.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Chama said that Shahrukh Khan contacted him on phone regarding this. At that time, he also promised that the state government would not allow violence against the film.

Earlier, on Saturday, when reporters raised questions about this issue, ‘Who is Shah Rukh Khan then? “I don’t know about him and his film,” said Chief Minister Chama. Following this, Shah Rukh Khan contacted him on phone.

In West Bengal…: While protests against Shahrukh Khan’s film are going on in the BJP-ruled states, the film’s booking has been completed in Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress-ruled West Bengal.
