President Asif Ali Zardari approved the Islamabad Capital Territory Local Government Amendment Bill 2024.
According to Express News, the President approved the Local Government of the Islamabad Capital Territory Amendment Bill in Article 75 of the Constitution. The purpose of the bill is to amend the Islamabad Capital Territory Local Government Act, 2015.

In the Islamabad Municipal Elections Act, the number of elected representatives at the Union Council level has been increased from 13 to 15, while each Union Council will consist of 15 members, while that the election of the president and vice president will not be direct.
