‘Congress M.P. Ghulam Nabi Azad, one of the senior leaders who left the party recently, alleged that Rahul Gandhi has no interest or aptitude in politics.
Also, ‘Party leadership has no time to fix the party structure. Congress needs medicine now. But that medicine is given by compounds and not by doctors. Therefore, the party needs experts now,’ he questioned.
Ghulam Nabi Azad, a senior leader of the party and one of the 23 dissident leaders who resigned from the Congress last Friday, is going to start a separate party.
Ghulam Nabi Azad, who announced his resignation from the Congress last Friday, had also sent a 5-page letter to Congress President Sonia. In it, he had made severe criticisms about Rahul Gandhi and the state of the party. He also blamed Rahul Gandhi’s actions for the election failures. Congress leaders condemned and denied his allegations.
In this situation, Ghulam Nabi Azad has once again presented severe criticisms about Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party. He said while meeting reporters at his residence in Delhi on Monday:
We tried to make Rahul Gandhi the party president. We have taken many efforts and measures for that. But, that effort was not successful. From that, it was revealed that he had no interest or aptitude for politics.
I can only congratulate the Congress party now. But more than my best wishes, the party now needs the right medicine to recover from its slump. But that medicine is given by compounds and not by doctors. The party needs experts.
Congress will fall anytime soon:
The Congress leadership has no time to fix the party structure. Instead of uniting the Congress cadres, the Congress leadership has been giving priority to the leaders who are due to leave the party and party positions.
The base of the Congress party has been greatly weakened by such actions. Due to this, the party is likely to fall at any time. He said that it was because of this that some leaders, including me, took the decision to leave the Congress.
Responding to a question about Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh’s criticism that Prime Minister Narendra Modi mixed in the genes of Ghulam Nabi Azad, Azad said, ‘Those who are questioning me are spreading false news and plotting against Congress leaders. Because of that, the party structure has weakened’, he replied.
New party soon: Ghulam Nabi Azad denied reports that he is going to join BJP and said, ‘BJP cannot help me in Jammu and Kashmir politics. BJP has its own support base. It is the puppets of BJP who are spreading such false information. Also, it could be Congress propaganda against me.
We are planning to start a new party here as assembly polls may be announced anytime in Jammu and Kashmir. No decision has yet been taken on launching a national-level party. A plan for that will be prepared in the coming days,’ he said.
90% Quits: 90% of the leaders of the Jammu and Kashmir wing of the Congress have quit. All the former ministers and MLAs of the party have expressed their support to me. Apart from that, 5 of the 6 Congress MLAs here have left the party. They are likely to support me or join other parties including BJP, he said.
Congress Criticism: Jairam Ramesh, who posted on his Twitter page on Monday about this interview of Ghulam Nabi Azad, said that ‘Ghulam Nabi Azad is degrading himself further through such interviews’.
