New Delhi: Monsoon is in its final phase in the southwest region and most parts of the country are experiencing heavy rains. West Madhya Pradesh, East Rajasthan and Gujarat received heavy rain on Saturday. Apart from this, almost all states including Delhi, Mumbai, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, North Eastern states and Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Odisha received light and heavy rain.

The Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rains in more than 25 states and union territories of the country, barring a few areas, and has issued a yellow alert in the last two days. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a low pressure area has formed over West Madhya Pradesh and adjoining areas. Due to this, areas of southwest Madhya Pradesh, adjoining Rajasthan and Gujarat recorded unusually heavy rainfall on Saturday.

There will be heavy rain with strong winds
For the next two days, the IMD warned Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, national capital Delhi as well as northeastern states including Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Odisha, West Bengal’s Ganges, Gujarat’s Saurashtra and parts of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. What is warned about? Heavy rains with gusty winds are likely over several parts of Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. There is also a risk of lightning in some areas. The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for heavy rain on September 17-18 for East Rajasthan, West Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat.
