Ram Puniyani’s article: Economic plight of South Asian countries, competition with each other is the biggest reason for their downfall.
There is no doubt that this economic malaise is partly due to the fury of the recent countrywide floods. But it is also true that the basic structure of Pakistan’s economy has been weak for a long time. Behind this the dominance of the military in the government, Islam dominates politics and America dominates the whole country.
At the time of independence of Pakistan, it is difficult to find a more accurate and better definition of secularism than the one given by Governor General Mohammad Ali Jinnah while addressing the Constituent Assembly on 11th August. He had said, “If you put aside your past and act with the feeling that each of you, No matter what community he belongs to, no matter what kind of relationship he had with you in the past, whatever the color of his skin, whatever be his caste or creed, he first of all, After that and last of all is the citizen of this country whose rights, Privileges and duties are equal, So there is no limit to how much progress you can make.”
