Referendum needed to use taxpayers’ money for public services: CM Kejriwal

Aam Aadmi Party leader and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that a referendum should be held on whether taxpayers’ money in the country should be used to provide quality services like medicine and education or should be spent on a family or one’s friends.

Kejriwal was on a campaign tour in BJP-ruled Gujarat. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, speaking at a rally in Panipat, said that ‘freebies’ are hindering India’s self-reliance and tax payers’ efforts.

In response to this, Kejriwal, in an unnamed video released on Wednesday, said, ‘There should be a referendum on whether the government money should be spent on a family as per the party’s wishes or on friends or on building good schools and hospitals in the country’.
