Regina woman charged after Sunday Amber Alert Pipa News

The Regina Police Service said Kerry Lynn Kivatin, 36, is facing charges in relation to an incident that resulted in an Amber Alert on Sunday.

Police were called to the 1100 block of 13 Avenue around 4:40 a.m. on Sunday, with information from the call indicating that a woman who knew the resident wanted to leave the house with her two-year-old son.

Officials said the suspect was on condition of no contact with the resident of the home, and that the woman did not have legal custody of the child.

An investigation began immediately, with officers checking the address associated with the suspect.

Police said they did not initially meet the criteria for issuing an Amber Alert till further investigation and legal opinion was not taken till 3:40 pm.

The suspect was found and arrested at 5:36 pm at a residence in the 300 block of Rose Street, with no harm to the child.

Kvyatin has been charged with failure to comply with the terms of the release order, kidnapping and kidnapping a person under the age of 16.

She appeared in her first provincial court on Monday afternoon.
