SAF battalion unit will be established in Khargone
Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): An order issued by the PHQ said that a unit of the Special Armed Forces (SAF) would be set up in Khargone.
The decision to set up an SAF battalion in Khargone was taken last year after communal violence erupted after stone pelting at a Ram Navami procession. Preparations have started to set up the SAF battalion. Official sources said the SAF battalion at Khargone would facilitate the force in reaching Khandwa, Barwani and Burhanpur districts quickly in case of any emergency. The SAF battalion will be used to maintain law and order in the area. Apart from this, force is also used during VVIP visits. There will be 1000 posts of different cadres in the battalion. Indore Inspector General of Police Rakesh Gupta has constituted a five-member task force to look into the details for setting up the battalion.
The task force comprises Commandant 24th SAF Ankit Jaiswal, Commandant 34th SAF Rohit Kashwani, Deputy Commandant 15th SAF Padmavilochan Shukla, Assistant Commandants 1st SAF Vinod Kumar Baghel and Vipin Shilpi.
