Speaking in support of the ‘One Nation, One Language’ policy, senior Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Relad said that Union Home Minister Amit Shah should take up the challenge that there should be one language in all states. He said that Hindi is spoken and accepted all over India.

Last month, Union Home Minister Amit Shah had said that India should be adopted as an alternative language to English. This was strongly opposed by political leaders in the southern states. They lamented that the imposition of India on the people was unacceptable and that it was an attempt to weaken regional languages.

Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu Higher Education Minister Ponmudi, who was present at one of the events, criticized the claim that if you study Hindi, you will get a job. “Who sells Bani Puri in Coimbatore?” As indirectly teased Hindi-speaking merchants.

Shiv Sena’s Sanjay Relam was asked about this. He replied, “I will speak in Hindi whenever I have the opportunity in Parliament. Because the country must listen to what I have to say. It is the language of the country. Hindi is the only language spoken and accepted across the country. The Hindi film industry is influential in the country and in the world. No language should be insulted.”

He went on to say, “Union Home Minister Amit Shah must accept the challenge of having one language in all states. One country, one constitution, one symbol, one language.”

In the 1960s, the Shiv Sena launched a series of campaigns claiming that jobs in Maharashtra would be snatched away by the northern and southern states. On the contrary, Sanjay Ralat is currently speaking.

Mumbai is set to hold local body elections this year. It is noteworthy that there are more northerners there.
