Saskatchewan climber dies in fall on Banff mountain
One person died while climbing Temple Mountain in Banff National Park on Friday.
At approximately 4:35 p.m., Lake Louise RCMP received reports of a backcountry skier who had fallen while climbing the Aemmer Couloir on Mt. Temple.
Emergency crews and Parks Canada visitor safety responded, where they discovered a 32-year-old Saskatchewan man who had died from the fall.
According to a post on Avalanche.ca, the climber hit a sluff from the rock face above the colouir and fell off his feet while on crampons.
The rest of the group got down safely, where they found their friend dead from the fall. He was not buried.
The two surviving members of the group were evacuated by helicopter. The deceased was recovered by sling rescue.
The investigation is ongoing. No foul play is suspected.
