Seminar on human trafficking, bonded labor held – Pakistan

KARACHI: Sindh government spokesperson and advisor to CM Sindh on law barrister Murtaza Wahab has said that electronic chips will be implanted in habitual criminals; The challan of offenders is being amended to include their criminal record, while the record of offenders should also be registered with NADRA.

He expressed these views while addressing the participants of a seminar on Human Trafficking and Bonded Labor under SSDO at a local hotel on Wednesday. People’s Party Punjab general secretary Hasan Murtaza, members of the Sindh Legislative Assembly from MQM Pakistan Abbas Jafri and Mangala Sharma and others participated in the seminar. People from different departments participated in the seminar organized under the aegis of SSDO.

Barrister Murtaza Wahab, in response to questions from the participants, said that the issue of human trafficking was managed under the Federal Government. “Child labor is not only in Sindh but all over Pakistan. The main reason for this is poverty. 55,000 teachers were recruited through IBA and professional teachers were recruited. Sindh government has also constructed schools under public-private partnership in the education sector. Due to widespread poverty, there is a need to create skill-based training centers so that trainees can easily get jobs.”

Barrister Murtaza Wahab said that a shameful incident took place in Khairpur, “The government immediately mobilized its resources, the person was detained, who was later unfortunately acquitted with honour, there are videos of the incident, and Pressure was exerted on his family members. Justice is given to those who have to be given. The three pillars of the state, the judiciary, the administration and the legislature, need to work together.”

He further said that the court had to sentence on the basis of evidence. If everyone works together, the problem can be solved. Unfortunately, things don’t work the way they need to. The accused are caught but later acquitted. Everyone in the society must play their part in order to uphold the rule of law.

Hasan Murtaza, General Secretary, Peoples Party Punjab while addressing the participants of the seminar said that the raw area is not only in Sindh, it is also in Punjab and Balochistan, eight to ten groups were working there. He established a government within a government; All the three provinces will have to make a joint action plan regarding the raw sector.

In response, Barrister Murtaza Wahab said that the current incidence of honey traps in the raw area is a challenge; Of course, this could be improved by sharing information with the three provinces, especially in the raw areas of Sindh and Punjab, joint strategy and action was needed. “Earlier, there were big hurdles because of the tabadili (change) gang. Now if Hasan Murtaza Bhai’s government was there, we would have asked him to do the operation, although the coordination is still going on.

Barrister Murtaza Wahab further said, “An accused is arrested on 7th October and released on 15th. There is another incident in which the accused robbed a car and was killed in another incident in the night. It was learned that the accused had appeared in the court in the morning. Court is my own institution. I do not believe in criticism for the sake of criticism but improvement is necessary in every organization.

Murtaza Wahab said that rehabilitation centers are being set up for drug addicts.
