Strive for the grand success of Rahul Yatra in both Telugu states: Uttam Kumar
Vijayawada: Congress MP from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh and AICC coordinator N. Uttam Kumar Reddy on Tuesday appealed to party workers to make Rahul Gandhi’s visit to both the Telugu states a grand affair.
Addressing a meeting of Congress workers in Vijayawada on Tuesday, Uttam Kumar Reddy appealed to the party cadre to make elaborate arrangements for Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Bharat Jodi Yatra’, which will enter Andhra Pradesh from Karnataka on October 20. “All Congress leaders and workers should work. Unite to make ‘Bharat Jodi Yatra’ a huge success in Andhra Pradesh. AICC leader Rahul Gandhi is leading the biggest ever padyatra in history of 3,500 km from Kanyakumari to Kashmir, covering 12 states in 150 days. The yatra will continue for four days in Andhra Pradesh before entering Telangana on October 24. So, we all must ensure huge participation in both the Telugu states,” he said.
Uttam said that the main slogan of the padyatra is ‘Jodo India, leave hatred’. Therefore, he said that by ensuring greater participation, Telugu states should send a strong message that they are against hatred and reject the divisive policies of RSS, BJP and their allies. He said that ‘Bharat Jodi Yatra’ has received tremendous public response in the last 13 days. So far, it has covered a distance of about 280 km in the states of Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
The Congress MP said that Rahul Gandhi will also talk on important issues like rise in prices of fuel and essential commodities and unemployment. He will also speak about the failure of the BJP government to implement the promises made to the Telugu states in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act and other injustices done to the Telugu states. He said Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Bharat Jodi Yatra’ will be the biggest event of the Congress party in Andhra Pradesh since the state was bifurcated in 2014 to separate Telangana. He said people have now realized that it was the right decision taken by Congress President Sonia Gandhi in 2013, which benefited the people of both the regions.
The Congress MP also informed that the ‘Bharat Jodi Yatra’ will run for 15 days, covering a distance of 366 kms, covering four Lok Sabha and nine assembly constituencies in Telangana. He expressed confidence that ‘Bharat Jodi Yatra’ would be a huge success in both the Telugu states.
