Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) President Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari has announced full support for the traders’ strike.
ICCI President Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari called for a review of the IPP agreements and more reforms in the trader-friendly scheme, saying the Chamber of Commerce supports the demands of lakhs of traders across the board the country
Ahsan Bakhtavari said that traders are the backbone of the country’s economy, increasing the tax net is a long-standing demand of the business community.
Ahsan Bakhtavari says that the harassment of business in the name of reforms is not accepted in any case, the current contracts of the IPP are disastrous for the economy.
He asked that the energy crisis cannot be solved without addressing the problems of capacity payments, the government should sit with the business community and implement viable measures and reforms, including the scheme friendly to traders.
It must be recalled that a strike is being held today on the appeal of Jamaat-e-Islami against heavy electricity bills, taxes and inflation.
On this occasion, commercial life is suspended in small and large towns of the country, markets and shops are closed.
Business organizations have also announced their support for today’s national strike.
