A new twist has emerged in the case of the alleged rape and murder of a doctor in training of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata.
According to Indian media reports, the parents of the dead woman said that the police tried to suppress the case and cremated the body of their daughter in a hurry.
The doctor’s wife’s father also claimed that the Kolkata police also tried to silence him by giving him money.
“The police tried to suppress the case from the beginning, we were not allowed to see the body and we had to wait at the police station while the body was taken for post-mortem,” he said.
“Later, when the body was handed over to us, a senior police officer offered us money, which we immediately rejected,” he continued.
Parents also participated in the protest along with junior doctors of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, demanding justice.
It should be noted that on August 9, the body of a 31-year-old doctor in training was found in a semi-naked state in the seminar room of the hospital, with marks of injuries on his body.
