The government once again increased the price of petrol by Rs 1.45 per liter

The government has once again increased the price of petrol by Rs 1.45 per liter. A notification issued by the Finance Department in the early hours of Wednesday said that the federal government has once again announced an increase in the price of petrol by Rs 1.45 per liter.

After the change in price, according to the notification, now petrol will be available for Rs 237.43 per liter.

Initially, it was reported that the price of petroleum products would come down from Rs 235.98 per liter to Rs 226.36 after a cut of Rs 9,62 per liter on September 16 (Friday) for the next fortnight.

The revised petroleum prices were to be announced on 16 September, however, the government delayed the announcement of the updated petroleum prices.

According to sources, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) in its summary sent to the Finance Department had not proposed reduction in petrol and diesel prices.

As per the revised petroleum prices for the remaining month of September, there is a reduction in the price of light speed diesel (LSD) by Rs 4.26 per litre, after which LSD will now be available for Rs 197.28 per litre.

However, the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) will remain the same at Rs 247.43 per litre.

The Finance Department in its notification further said that the price of kerosene has been reduced to Rs 8.30 per liter, after which it will be sold at Rs 202.02 per litre.

The notification said the new prices would be effective from September 21.
