According to Indian media reports, Sami Singh is undergoing treatment in the ICU of a hospital in Gurugram and is awaiting a liver transplant.
Parvinder Singh, dream of the Irish cricketer, told the Indian media that Sammy had a strange fever in Dublin a few months ago, which kept coming and going. When the disease could not be detected, it was decided to treat it in India.
He added that in late June, Sammy was brought to Mohali, but due to delay in diagnosis and further deterioration of his health, he was admitted to PGI, Chandigarh, where he was diagnosed with liver failure.
According to reports, Sami Singh’s wife Agamdeep Kaur has agreed to donate a part of her liver and the transplant is expected soon.
Born in Mohali, Punjab, Sami Singh played cricket for Punjab at the U-14 and U-17 levels but failed to make it to the U-19 team.
He traveled to Ireland to study hotel management and joined Malahide Cricket Club in Dublin as a professional cricketer in 2006.
Sammy has been outstanding for Ireland, taking 39 ODI and 44 T20 wickets.
He also scored an ODI century against South Africa in 2021.
