After a serious accident between a car and a lorry, the M6 ​​has reopened northbound between junctions 27 and 28. Emergency services reached the spot.

Motorists were advised to avoid the area, and a diversion was in place.

In an update at 2.10 a.m. Sunday, traffic information service Inrix said: “All lanes open, accident cleared on the M6 ​​northbound from the J27 A5209 Crow Orchard Road (Standish) to the J28 B5256 Leyland Way (Leyland).”
