Parliament Session: The special session of Parliament started today. Meanwhile, on the very first day today, confusion arose over the national anthem. Protests were raised by the opposition after the National Anthem was played before the scheduled time in the Lok Sabha. The national anthem was played at the wrong time and stopped before it finished. Opposition MPs objected to this.
The session was scheduled to start at 11 am. The national anthem was supposed to start after Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla took his seat, but it started earlier. This caused all the MPs present in the House to stand respectfully, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Sonia Gandhi. But as the national anthem was played by mistake, it was stopped in the middle. A dispute arose from this.
Opposition MPs protested the sudden halting of the national anthem, after which Speaker Om Birla had to intervene. The Speaker pacified the angry members and said there was a technical glitch.
The matter will be investigated
After this, Congress House Leader Adhir Ranjan said, ‘We don’t like it when you are insulted’. On this, Birla assured the members that the matter will be investigated. After this, when the atmosphere calmed down a bit, the full national anthem was played.
What is tradition?
National Anthem – ‘Jan, Gana, Mana…’ is played in the House at the beginning of the Parliament session. The session concludes with the playing of the national anthem ‘Vande Mataram’. At the beginning of the session, the National Anthem is played after the arrival of the Speaker and then the discussion begins. But today, due to a technical glitch, the national anthem was played before the speaker arrived.
