The people of Gujarat have rejected the politics of freebies

The BJP will form the government for the 7th time in a row with an unprecedented victory in the Gujarat state assembly elections. Polling for the 182-member Gujarat Assembly was held in two phases on December 1 and December 5. As the results were announced yesterday, the BJP won a mega victory by winning 156 seats.

While the Congress won only 17 seats, the newcomer Aam Aadmi Party got only 5 seats. Subsequently, BJP’s Bhupendra Patel will take office as the Chief Minister of the state on the 12th. In this context, Union Minister Amit Shah has expressed his opinion about Gujarat election victory.

In his post, he said, “People of Gujarat have chosen politics of development and people’s welfare. People who have rejected fake promises, freebies and vote-bank politics have endorsed PM Modi’s development model with an unprecedented victory. This victory is a victory for women, youth and farmers from all walks of life. This confirms that they have supported the BJP,” he said.

Until the last election, there was only direct competition between the BJP and the Congress, but this time, the Aam Aadmi Party also entered the election in full swing, so the Gujarat election field became a three-way contest. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has entered the tax arena before announcing the election date in Gujarat.

Many free promises like free electricity and scholarships were made to the people. While the Aam Aadmi Party claimed that these were all welfare schemes, the BJP slammed it as a culture of luring votes by showing freebies. Amit Shah has quoted that people have rejected fake promises of freebies when Aam Aadmi Party lost only 5 seats in this election.
