There is a shortage of life-saving medicines across the country once again, with 27 essential medicines, including insulin, unavailable in medical stores.

Drug Inspector Sindh said that 27 essential medicines, including insulin, were not available in medical stores in Karachi.

Secretary Provincial Drug Quality Control Board Sindh Syed Adnan Rizvi wrote and ordered drug inspectors throughout the province to conduct a survey of unused drugs.

According to officials, 30 essential medicines are not available in the market even in the federal capital Islamabad and its surroundings.

Antibiotics, psychiatric and asthma drugs are among the unavailable drugs, while tetanus injections and various types of inhalers are also in critical shortage, officials said.

On the other hand, the officials of the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) admitted that there is no shortage of drugs in the country, there may be a problem in the supply chain.

DRAP officials said that the drug availability survey is conducted every week across the country, and insulin is very abundant for the patient.
