Three journalists arrested for writing news of UP Board exam paper leak

On Wednesday, the Ballia district administration had canceled the examination in 24 districts after receiving information about the paper leak of class 12 English subject board examination to be held on the same day. 22 people including the District School Inspector have been arrested in the case. These include three journalists, who had written the news about the leaked question paper.

Gorakhpur: Police have arrested three journalists from Ballia, who wrote the news of the UP Board’s Intermediate English question paper leak. Journalists have demonstrated in Ballia Kotwali against the arrest of journalists, while many leaders have also condemned the arrest of journalists.

Significantly, on Wednesday, the question paper of the Intermediate English exam was leaked and the solved question paper went viral on the internet. After this, the English exam was canceled in 24 districts.

The District Inspector of Schools of Ballia was also suspended in the case, after which he was arrested. A total of 22 people, including him, have been arrested so far in this episode, including three journalists – Ajit Kumar Ojha, Digvijay Singh and Manoj Gupta.

Two of these journalists- Ajit Ojha and Digvijay Singh are affiliated with Amar Ujala newspaper. The statement of Ajit Ojha and Digvijay Singh has come about the arrest on social media.

Digvijay Singh told that he writes for Amar Ujala from Nagra in Ballia district and is also the Circle President of the National Journalists Association of India.

He told that on Tuesday, he got the solved question paper of high school Sanskrit examination from his sources, the news of which he sent to his institute. This news was also published. The next day on Wednesday, the newspaper published the news of the Intermediate English question paper leak. He performed his journalistic duties but he and Ajit Kumar Ojha were arrested.

He has also accused the police and administration of harassment and said that copies are being written openly in Nagra, Bhimpura, Belthara area and the administration is unable to stop it. Action has been taken against journalists to hide their inability.

Journalist Ajit Ojha is a correspondent in Ballia and covers the news of the Education Department. He told that Amar Ujala first published the news of the leak of question paper of Sanskrit of High School and then English of Intermediate. The leaked question paper went viral on the internet and they got it from there.

When he got to know about his side from the district administration and DIOS, he could not give any satisfactory answer. Later, DM and DIOS called him and asked for the viral copy of the question paper on WhatsApp, then he sent it to both the officers.

After this, when he was working in his office on Wednesday, Ballia reached Kotwal and took him away. It is alleged that during this time there was sabotage in the office and scuffles with colleagues.

He told that he was made to sit for several hours at Ballia Kotwali. On receiving the news of his detention, a large number of journalists reached Ballia Kotwali and staged a protest against the arrest.

There the Kotwal told reporters that Ojha has been detained on the instructions of the SP, while the SP says that this action has been taken on the instructions of the government.

Ballia Police has said on its Twitter, ‘Ajit Ojha is an assistant teacher in Higher Secondary School in Haripur Jigani of District Ballia and also works as a correspondent. On the basis of the received Tahrir, they have been arrested, advance investigative proceedings are in vogue.

In another tweet, Ballia Police said that ‘the above person has been arrested and sent to jail on the basis of the evidence obtained in the investigation so far, one of his associates whose name he is naming is an assistant teacher in a school and is present in the secondary examination. I have done the work of a room inspector in an examination.

Another journalist Manoj Gupta of Nagra, Ballia has also been arrested in the same case.

Ballia journalists told that the solved question paper of Intermediate English at a center in Malipur under Nagra police station area of ​​Ballia went viral on social media. Many journalists also got this question paper. A local portal published the news about this. After that this news became common. The administration is targeting journalists instead of taking action against the copying mafia who leaked the question papers.

So far no statement has come from Amar Ujala newspaper on the arrest of its two journalists. the newspaper has news I have given the names of those arrested but have not told that Ajit Ojha and Digvijay Singh are their journalists.

On the other hand, Bairiya’s SP MLA Jai Prakash Circle and former Bairia MLA Surendra Singh have condemned the arrest of journalists in the paper leak case.

Amar Ujala According to, Surendra Singh said, ‘This act is highly condemnable. It is the religion of a journalist that if any subject comes to his notice, he should expose it. If the police is taking any action on this, then it is condemnable.

At the same time, SP MLA Jai Prakash Anchal said, ‘The fourth pillar of democracy is journalists. If any information comes to the journalist, then his job is to reach it to the public. When he came to know about the mistake, he informed the administration. Such action should not be taken.
