Three people have been charged in connection with the theft of luxury cars from a car dealership in Gatineau, Que.

Officers spotted three new vehicles driving down Maloney Boulevard at approximately 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, noting that none of the vehicles were registered.

Gatineau police say the drivers ran towards Highway 50 when the cops gave chase.

One of the vehicles veered off the road along Highway 50 and the suspect managed to flee the scene on foot. The second car was found in a ditch on Lorrain Boulevard.

Police say officers used “nail mats” to stop a third stolen car and the driver was arrested at the scene.

During the operation, officers arrested two more people in another car in connection with the thefts, but police say the car was not stolen.

Three men – 17, 18 and 24 years old – were met by investigators and released on the promise to appear in court later. Charges of theft of a vehicle, possession of a burglary and flight tools, and conspiracy will be filed against the Director of Criminal and Criminal Prosecutions, police said.
