tripura cm biplab deb resigns just one year ahead of assembly election, – News18 Tamil

With just one year to go before the Tripura assembly elections, the state’s chief minister, Biplab Kumar Deb, has resigned. Biplob Kumar submitted his resignation to Governor SN Arya at the Governor’s House there.

In this context, the BJP is expected to announce the new chief minister soon. Union Minister Bhubaneswar Yadav and party general secretary Vinod Thawde have been appointed as the central officials in charge of electing the new chief minister. He is currently rushing to Agartala, the capital of Tripura. It is learned that either Jishnu Dev Verma, who will be the Deputy Chief Minister, or Manik Saha, a member of the state assembly, will be the next Chief Minister.

The quarter-century-old Communist regime was overthrown in the 2018 general elections in Tripura and the BJP came to power for the first time. The BJP ruled with a simple majority, capturing 36 of the 60 constituencies. Following this, Biplob Kumar Dev was elected as the 10th Chief Minister of the state.

It is noteworthy that the BJP transferred the Chief Ministers of Gujarat and Uttarakhand to the top.
