Two more members of PFI arrested in Delhi, fresh case registered

In 2019, the Uttar Pradesh government sought a ban on PFI for their alleged involvement in anti-CAA protests in parts of the state.

The central government’s ban on PFI was imposed in several cases focused on terror, including terror funding and training. As a result, hundreds of its leaders have been arrested in the past few days.

The central government’s specific reasons for banning the organization relate to the PFI’s efforts to radicalize vulnerable individuals from a community, its links with other terrorist organizations including ISIS, and more significantly, India’s involvement through posing a threat to internal security.
