Unseasonal rain in Chandrapur district; Woman injured by lightning








Chandrapur; Leading News Service: While the weather was cloudy everywhere in Chandrapur district for two days, unseasonal rains appeared on Saturday (18th) morning. Rabi crops have been hit by unseasonal rains. A woman has been injured by lightning in a field in Amboli in Sindewahi taluka.

As soon as the month of March started, the heat started to heat up. However, the district has been cloudy for the past two days. As the summer mercury increased, the atmosphere started to feel chilly due to cloudy weather. Today, on Saturday (18th), rains fell in the district around morning. Along with Chandrapur, Bhadravati, Varora, Sindewahi, Bramhapuri, Ballarpur, Nagbhid and other talukas received heavy rainfall. Gita Nilkanth Lokhande (age 35), a woman working in the fields at Amboli in Sindewahi taluk, was struck by lightning around 11.30 am on Saturday. She was injured. She has been admitted to Sindewahi Rural Hospital for treatment. This unseasonal rain has damaged the vegetable crops in the fields including cotton, wheat, gram.

‘Yellow alert’ till March 21 in Chandrapur district

The India Meteorological Department has predicted light to moderate rains in Chandrapur district till March 21 and thundershowers with lightning at one or two places in the district, gusty winds (speed 30 to 40 km per hour) and hail. ‘Yellow Alert’ has been issued for the period from March 19 to 21. The administration has given instructions that farmers should take care of their crops, stay indoors during lightning strikes, and not use cell phones in the fields.
