Vadodara: Power supply disrupted to 4.50 lakh connections on 96 feeders due to heavy winds and rain

In the city of Vadodara this morning, due to the entry of rain with strong winds, there was a power outage across the city. As many as 4.50 lakh connections on 96 feeders of various divisions of Madhya Gujarat Power Company were disrupted and power supply was also restored on 75 of these feeders by 12 noon.
Sources of the power company say that the power company has suffered heavy losses due to heavy winds. Sixteen pillars fell in the city. At one point the supply was stopped at 96 feeders. Two transformers were damaged in Manjalpur and Vasana areas of the city. Trees fell on power lines at around 35 places. As many as 600 individual complaints were received by the power company.

The power company deployed 10 teams of power workers from all divisions to repair the power lines and due to this, power supply was restored to most of the feeders. Sources said that the power supply to the 21 feeders which had been shut down will be restarted after noon.
Power supply was more affected in the subdivisions like Akota, Gotri, Lalbagh, Akota in the western area as compared to the eastern area of the city.
