Sand mafia is now carrying out mining by betting on the wisdom of donkeys instead of machinery. Ramghat, the city’s drinking water source, has also not remained untouched by this. Now Ramghat and its associated areas have become the new base of sand mafia. Mining is being done by laborers just 20 meters away from Ramghat. The situation is such that there is no movement of tractors and trolleys in this area, so sand is being loaded with donkeys.

It is also surprising that if a vehicle is caught while transporting sand illegally, it has to undergo action including penalty, but there is neither any penalty nor any fear of confiscation for transporting sand using donkeys. There is no cost for diesel also. In such a situation, the sand mafia is trying to sabotage the government by earning profits worth lakhs under the guise of donkeys. Officials are not taking action citing inconsistencies in the rules.

If trolleys and tractors are caught, they have to go through a lengthy judicial process along with heavy penalties. There is no penalty on the donkey nor fear of being confiscated. Also no diesel expense and no fear of being caught. In such a situation, only profit comes in the profit share. That is why sand mining work is being done under the cover of donkeys.
