Rawalpindi (Reported by our staff correspondent): Two armed bandits, donning police uniforms and equipped with wireless sets, made off with 6 million rupees after robbing a businessman near Chakri police station.

The victim, Mumtaz Khan, a trader dealing in sand and gravel, reported to the police that yesterday, he, along with his son and brother, was transporting 6.5 million rupees to Vijhang on a motorcycle to purchase an excavator machine. As they were en route, their vehicle was intercepted by individuals posing as police officers.

Claiming to conduct a routine search, the impostors, armed with wireless sets and pistols, confiscated the money stored in two pockets beneath the front seat, amounting to 6.05 million rupees, before fleeing the scene in their car.

Mumtaz Khan promptly lodged a formal complaint with the police, prompting the initiation of an investigation into the incident.
