Doctors have made a startling discovery of a living parasite residing in the brain of an American citizen, who had a history of consuming raw meat.
As per a report from a foreign news agency, a 52-year-old man sought medical attention in Florida after experiencing migraines persistently for several weeks. Upon conducting a CT scan, doctors identified several fluid-filled areas in the man’s brain.
The patient, who resides with his wife and cat, is known to have a penchant for consuming undercooked meat. Initially, medical experts suspected a congenital abnormality, prompting the man’s admission to the hospital for further evaluation.
However, upon conducting a comprehensive examination, doctors uncovered the presence of a tapeworm in the man’s brain, which had caused significant damage. Researchers suggested that the tapeworm likely entered the man’s body and migrated to the brain due to his habit of consuming raw meat.
Following the diagnosis, the patient underwent treatment with anthelmintics and dewormers, leading to a successful recovery from the parasitic infection. Health experts have issued cautionary advice, particularly to individuals with diabetes and heart disease, emphasizing the potential risks associated with consuming undercooked meat.
